NSW Energy Savings Scheme in Australia

The Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) Is a program based in New South Wales that provides opportunities for companies to participate in the energy-saving program. It does this by authorizing Approved Service Providers (ACPs) to establish Energy Savings Certificates (ESC) after performing energy-saving equipment installations.

A broad variety of qualifying practices include installing less efficient lighting and a variety of improvements to commercial and manufacturing facilities including pumps, ventilation, and cooling, as well as process adjustments.

An ESC contains the equivalent of 1 ton of carbon dioxide, which is equal to 0.94 Megawatt-hours of saved oil. Liable Individuals shall buy and surrender ESCs annually in compliance with a legislated deadline.
